I always dreamt of animating characters. But rigging made that dream a hard goal to reach. I started out many years ago in 3Dsmax 7 or so, using the new emerged CAT at that time. I managed to make an ant move like a robot on diarrhea. That's when my face hit the wall and that's when I realized that rigging and animating were just not the same degree of skill as other 3D stuff. It scared me, and I stayed away from it for a very long time. Using that time to dive further into other aspects of 3D never hurt me. In fact, it allowed me to explore and master modeling, uv's texturing and rendering without being distracted by 'character animation'. The last few years I've added sculpting to that series of skills and that too is great fun.

When I started my own company few years ago I was forced in making a choice many of you people had to make in the past: what software am I going for. C4D turned out to be the most affordable and packed license at that time. Both Pricing and low learning curved convinced me.I still use it as the major app today. So obviously I dove into the character stuff, motivated by the tutorial DVD's that came in the box. I placed bones like a mad man, but ran into diarrhea again when it came to constraints and IK/FK and so forth. I even ask pricing for specialized C4D training on character rigging and animation here in Belgium, but that was not an area on what the Maxon resellers had experience in.
Over time I tried every now and then, motivated by newly published tutorials, but I never cam further than the famous bouncing ball.
This brings me with this post's title: learning Messiah. I amongst many other purchased a cheap license some time ago. I did that with the intention to actually use the software. But there was that wall again. It's most likely a lack of logical insight of mine that kept me away from success in these matters for a very long time. So hopefully not this time. Purchasing Joe Cosmans video tutorials motivated me again and took away some of my fears. So wish me good luck.
Although It appears as Messiah Studio is not the easiest interface tot get used to, I managed to achieve some progress. So am I actually learning Messiah now?
(to be continued one day)
